The head office houses the majority of our employees, administration and staff units. The chemical and biological laboratories are located here, as well as the equipment and instrument center.

We work with coastal opportunities and environmental challenges, including aquaculture, climate change and ocean acidification.

NIVA Region East is located in Ottestad (near Hamar) in Stange municipality.

The department was established in 1982 and currently consists of 20 employees, most of whom are researchers working locally, nationally and internationally.

NIVA Denmark's primary focus is applied research in aquatic ecosystems. Key areas are eutrophication, environmental pollutants, biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Research station

The research station at Solbergstrand conducts experiments in marine ecology, sediment research and aquaculture. We also test technology for ballast water treatment and other water-related treatment systems. The research station is located just south of Drøbak in the Oslo Fjord.
