Project news
25-28.10.22 Maria Christou attended the RNA-Seq Data Analysis workshop organized by ecSeq Bioinformatics GmbH in Leipzig where she learned the fundamentals of Linux command line for quality control, read mapping, visualization and downstream analysis of RNA-seq data.
24.10.22 Maria Christou visited the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ (Leipzig, Germany) and tour of the laboratories of the Department of Bioanalytical Ecotoxicology by Dr. Stefan Scholz and Dr. Riccardo Massei. The Department of Bioanalytical Ecotoxicology uses high content analysis and automatisation bioassays to study the mechanism of action of chemicals. Some of the bioassays and tools that were showcased during the tour was the infrastructure for behavioral assays, the VAST BioImager aytomated sampling platform for zebrafish larvae, and the FishInspector a software that allows the user-friendly and easy annotation of features in zebrafish embryo 2-dimensional images. Dr Stefan Scholz has provided a licensed copy and currently FishIsnpector is being optimized at NIVA for the evaluation of the sublethal effects of mitochondrial toxicants on zebrafish growth.
6.7.2022. The first AOP developed by RiskAOP, Uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation leading to growth inhibition via decreased cell proliferation (AOP 263) was endorsed by OECD WNT an WPHA.
20-24.06.22 Maria Christou attended the online workshop entitled “Summer school in Bioinformatics” organized by Physalia courses (https://www.physalia-courses.org/previous-courses-workshops/2022/)
31.3.2022. RiskAOP signed a collaboration agreement with International Food and Water Research Centre (IFWRC, Waters Pacific, Singapore) to develop new workflows for untargeted and targeted metabolomics.
15-22, 2022. RiskAOP sponsored and participated the 1st AOP Community of Practice Symposium (virtual)
8.11.2021 The project leader You Song joined OECD’s AOP coaching program and became a registered AOP coach.
2-6.08.21 Maria Christou successfully completed the postgraduate course “Statistical Analyses with R”, organized by Transmitting Science. This course was held online, and has been taught by Dr. Antonio Canepa (Consultant and Co-founder, One Mind, Spain).
8.5.2021. A new postdoc researcher, Maria Christou, has been recruited for RiskAOP. Maria will start on June 1 2021 and mainly work on zebrafish in vivo and in vitro studies in the next two years.
8.1.2021. An AOP project proposal on the development of mitochondrial AOPs (prepared by You Song and approved by Sjur Andersen) was reviewed by OECD’s Extended Advisory Group on Molecular Screening and Toxicogenomics (EAGMST) on December 17, 2020 and included in the OECD work plan (OECD project 1.92).
23.06.20 - The project kickoff meeting was successfully held online (via Zoom). A total of 17 national and international participants from 9 different institutes attended the meeting. During the meeting, the project leader You Song presented the project plan to the consortium and most of the participants presented their past/ongoing work relevant for RiskAOP. Fruitful discussions were then carried out to adjust the project plan and set up solid goals for the upcoming period.
01.06.2020 – The RiskAOP project has been officially launched.
