About the project
UPRISE focuses on flood mitigation in the Halden watercourse and is formally run by Aurskog-Høland municipality.
UPRISE will develop a management tool specifically for municipalities. The method will be knowledge-based, holistic and inclusive so that areas can be prioritised for marsh restoration.
The project is funded by the Viken Regional Research Fund. Together with Aurskog-Høland municipality, Haldenvassdraget Vannområde, NIBIO and NIVA will run the project from 1 August 2022 to 30 June 2024.
The aim is to ensure the highest cost-effectiveness and lowest level of conflicts and barriers to restoration. Citizens, organisations and businesses will be included. Flood risk reduction is a keyword in UPRISE, where we will apply new methods to identify areas of interest, quantify flood risk reduction and optimise other benefits such as erosion reduction, water purification and biodiversity.
