Trine Bekkby

Trine Bekkby has been working as a researcher since 2001, with the position as a senior scientist at the professor level at NIVA since 2011. She has been leading many national projects since 2002 and has been principal investigator and/or having leading role in several international projects since 2007. Since 2003 she has been responsible for several field campaigns, with 15-30 days at sea each year. She has several supervision, teaching and evaluation tasks at universities.

The main focus og Trine Bekkby's research is marine coastal ecosystems and variation in space (incl. environmental conditions) and changes in time (incl. effects of climate and human space use changes) - particularly focusing on the biodiversity, structure, function and restoration of blue forests (such as kelp forests, seagrass meadows and seaweed beds). She also works with mapping, monitoring, spatial analyses, and habitat classification and value assessment.

Trine Bekkby has published >50 peer-reviewed papers/book chapters, >100 other publications/reports, >120 talks and >20 posters at conferences/meetings, >60 presentations in media (newspaper, radio, TV), and >30 science blog articles and Youtube presentations.
