Profile
Rolf holds a PhD in environmental chemistry from the University of Oslo. Since 1996, he has conducted research on environmental chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, UiO, where he became a professor in 2006. In 2021 he started working at NIVA as Chief Scientist. He is a biogeochemist who thrives when he can use his broad knowledge of chemistry in close collaboration with researchers from other disciplines. From researching the effects of acid rain on soil and water, he is now more concerned with studying the impact of climate change on the mobility and transport of substances in the environment. Through more than 30 years of environmental research, Rolf has led several interdisciplinary projects and has played key roles in research projects on e.g. humic matter, eutrophication, and heavy metals in Asia, Africa and Europe. At NIVA he is leading the monitoring of lakes and field research stations where he studies the effects of environmental- and climate changes on the water chemistry. He is also strongly involved in e.g., aquaculture research, chemical analysis and transdisciplinary environmental monitoring. Vogt has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in int. scientific journals and a h-index of 46.
