Empiric Relationships between Key Site Characteristics and the Collective Properties and measured Structural Characteristics of Dissolved Natural Organic Matter
Vitenskapelig foredrag
Sammendrag
The physicochemical functional characteristics of a combined data set of 10 + 8 RO isolates from the Nordic countries were correlated with their structural characteristics as well as to key catchment characteristics. These correlations indicate that as the S-deposition is decreasing we should expect relatively more TOC and more Hydrophobic character of the DNOM. Furthermore, lake size or lake/watershed ratio and possibly elevation are key site parameters describing DNOM characteristics. The TOC concentration is a key chemical parameter in describing DNOM characteristics though there may be a concentration artefact on quality parameters.
