Classification of ecological and chemical status in Norwegian rivers according to the Water Framework Directive. River Monitoring Programme 2017.

Summary

The River Monitoring Program is part of the Norwegian authorities' surveillance monitoring. Biological quality elements were included in the survey for the first time in 2017. The objective of the survey was to classify the ecological and chemical status according to the guidelines in “vannforskriften”, the Norwegian implementation of the water framework directive. Ecological status was classified at 3 sites in the lower part of 20 rivers. Chemical status was classified in 9 rivers.
