Summary

This report presents results from the monitoring of biological and chemical status in the lower part of the river Glomma, in the vicinity of Borregaard Fabrikker. The objective of the survey was to assess the effects, and possibly any positive trends, of the factory's effluents on the river the last few years. The factory belongs to the “land-based industry” and "production of paper” sectors and is in the lower part of the river Glomma in Sarpsborg municipality in Østfold county. After treatment, the wastewater is discharged to the water body 002-3549-R (Glomma fra Sarpsfossen til samløp Visterflo ved Greåker), which is classified as having bad ecological status, with the risk of not meeting the environmental goal of good ecological status by 2021. (...) For river-basin specific pollutants and priority substances, the concentrations measured were below the AA-EQS. The chemical status is thus good for both site one (upstream) and site six (downstream effluent).
