Environmental monitoring of the area surrounding Herøya Industrial Park in the Frierfjord. Monitoring on behalf of Yara Norway AS Porsgrunn

Summary

NIVA has conducted environmental monitoring of the fjord area surrounding Herøya Industrial Park on behalf of Yara Norway AS Porsgrunn. The monitoring program is designed in accordance with Norwegian and international (IAEA) standards and approved by Statens Stålevern. Elements included in the survey are selected on the basis of Yaras' emission of naturally occurring radionuclides to the Frierfjord. The monitoring includes analysis of levels of the radioactive elements U-nat, Th-nat and K-40 in seawater, sediments and blue mussels.
