Assessment of leakage of PAH and heavy metals from contaminated sediments in the Inner Ranfjord

Summary

NIVA has investigated leaking of PAHs and heavy metals from the seabed outside the quay areas in the Inner Ranfjord. The sediments outside Rana Industriterminal, Toraneskaia and Bulkterminalen were highly contaminated with PAHs and heavy metals. The sediment samples taken outside the terminal of Rana Gruber had only low concentrations of heavy metals and most of the PAHs were also low. The risk assessment shows that the areas have sediments with concentrations of contaminants that have ecological effects on organisms in sediments. ...
