Summary

Here, we report the results of 2012 from the monitoring program on environmental contaminants in Lake Mjøsa. The study is done by the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU) (chemical analysis) on behalf of the Climate and Pollution Agency (Klif). Filet samples of fish (brown trout, Salmo trutta; smelt, Osmerus eperlanus; vendace, Coregonus albula) and zooplankton (Mysis relicta) were analyzed for brominated flame retardants (PBDE, HBCDD), DDT, PCB, dioxins, chlorinated paraffins, perfluorinated alkylated compounds (PFC) and mercury. From each fish species, 20 samples of muscle filets were analyzed for contaminants. The mean weight (± SD) of the analyzed fishes was: brown trout, 3.4 ± 2.0 kg; smelt, 45 ± 28 g; vendace, 79 ± 4 g. ...
