Summary

An area outside Mekjarvik in Rogaland is planned as a deposit area for stones. Approximately 500 m northwest of the planned deposition area, IRIS research station has a water intake of about 80 m depth, which will be affected by particles scattered from the deposition area. Two alternative positions for water intake are considered. A model setup using the model GEMSS for area around Kvitsøyfjorden and Byfjorden, recreates the variability in the circulation pattern in a satisfactory manner. The hydrodynamics is used to model the dispersion of particles from an operation where for masses containing rock is deposited in the sea outside Mekjarvik.
