Surveillance of environmental quality in the small river Kjeksebekken. Municipality of Kristiansand. Annual report for 2014
Summary
The report presents results from an investigation of water quality and biological parameters to get an environmental status of the small river Kjeksebekken. The river is a recipient of run-off from the catchment around a municipal waste dump. NIVA is responsible for the biological part of the monitoring, and parameters used to cover that topic are benthic macro invertebrates. In 2009 Kjeksebekken seemed to have been moderately affected by inputs of nutrients and organic matter in the highest located sampling station, without clear negative effects on the biodiversity. In 2012 this potential loading of nutrients does not seem to be present any more. The material from 2014 support the results from 2012 and for some parameters even better, although a small effect from episodes with somewhat lower pH at the upper most station could be seen.
