Marianne Olsen

Marianne Olsen is a Research Director at NIVA. She holds a PhD in ecology and as a researcher she has worked in a wide range of pollutant related issues, methods and tools, including chemical contaminants, oil pollution and plastic pollution, with a special focus on environmental monitoring, environmental risk assessments, sediment pollution and remediation actions. She has work experience as a researcher within the Norwegian oil and gas industry and process industry, and as project manager and advisor for Norwegian pollution authorities on contaminated sediments. As a project manager she has administrated and raised funding for major research and investigation projects. In recent years she has been heavily involved in the development of NIVA's portfolio of international aid funded capacity building projects on chemical and plastic pollution, ocean accounting and marine spatial planning, particularly in Asia.
